Senior Vet and Advanced Practitioner in Veterinary Ophthalmology
On graduating from Glasgow University in 2000, Jade worked in a mixed practice on the west coast of Scotland. Exciting as it was, two years was enough to prompt the search for a warmer, drier climate. She moved down to Dorset in 2002 where she has worked in small animal practice ever since.
Jade’s professional passion is ophthalmology. She obtained a further qualification in ophthalmology in 2012 and loved it so much that she worked towards the next one. We were delighted that in November 2017 Jade was awarded Advanced Practitioner in Veterinary Ophthalmology by the RCVS. Amongst her other interests is acupuncture, which she uses regularly as an adjunctive therapy.
Jade is married with a young son who keeps them on their toes! They love the outdoors and family time is quite likely to involve bikes, kayaks or anything involving mud, sand or water!
Jade's quick fire questions:
Name of first pet?
Shane, the Irish Setter.
Favourite place in the world?
Ao Nang provence, Thailand.
Book or Kindle?
Red or white wine?
Most embarassing moment?
One of many! I was out on a heath on my bike. I hit an area of sand and my bike stopped dead. I couldn’t get my feet out of the toe clips quickly enough and ended up, very slowly, toppling over into the gorse, feet still attached to the pedals. A troop of walkers had rounded the bend just in time to see the whole thing!
