Welcoming you back safely
13th October 2020
Re-opening our doors
Closing our door to clients back in March was one of the most difficult situations we’d faced here at Hillside in our 23-year history.
We pride ourselves on the feeling we create in this building. The relationships we build with owners whilst gaining the trust of their pets, excited dog faces appearing at the reception desk eager for treats and the general ‘how’s the family’ chats. This was all taken away from us over night.
For a few weeks we were only able to see the most urgent cases and even then, behind closed doors. We were thrilled when we were able to start our routine appointments again and see more of our clients, but this was still over short chats in the car park. New clients in particular weren’t able to experience first-hand the care and attention we give your pets in the consultation room and we thank you for putting your trust in us to take your pets inside whilst you waited for them.
We were keen to welcome our clients back, but this had to be done with very careful consideration and the safety of everyone our top priority. Lots of work went on behind the scenes to ensure that we were fully Covid-secure and finally, over 6 months since we locked the door, we were able to open again on 5th October.
In the week since, there has been a noticeable change in the practice. Our vet Bobby commented “I had forgotten how much I like having the client in the room when I’m seeing the pet”.
Head Nurse Helen has remarked “It's been lovely just hearing staff and clients interacting with each other. Dogs are still coming to the desk for treats which is lovely too.”
Our receptionists are thoroughly enjoying seeing those expectant dog faces back at the desk and speaking to our clients face to face again (albeit behind a mask and screen for safety).
With the weather taking a turn and the nights starting to draw in, we are so pleased to no longer be consulting in the car park and we know our clients are too.
We are very grateful to our fantastic clients for adjusting so well to our ‘new normal’. Everyone has been very respectful of keeping distance, wearing masks, sanitising hands and accepting that this is the way we have to work for the foreseeable future. In return, our staff wear PPE, clean the building at regular intervals throughout the day and have created socially distanced waiting areas.
Together, we can give you the Hillside service and experience you expect from us whilst keeping every one of us safe in these challenging times.
