We are delighted to answer your questions and help you better understand how we can help to keep your pet healthy. Modern veterinary medicine is every bit as complex as human medicine so don't hesitate to ask.

Health Care for your Pet

Vaccinations
Vaccinations are vital to keep your pet safe from many common diseases but at Hillside we combine the annual vaccination with a full health check which we feel is just as important. It is an ideal time to fully assess the health and overall happiness of your pets.

De-worming
In addition to seriously affecting the health of your pets, certain worms can also transfer to people, especially children. We offer advice on the best de-worming programs for your pet's particular needs and will administer the worming tablets to your pet at no extra charge.

Fleas
Warm summers and centrally heated homes in winter make fleas a year-round problem. Treatment can be frustrating (and ineffective) with the wrong products. We are happy to advise on a treatment plan best suited and safest for both you and your pets.

Neutering
Studies consistently show that neutered pets live longer, happier lives and make better family pets. Neutering can also help to protect against many common diseases such as prostate cancer. The best time for neutering can vary between cats and dogs and even individual animals, but our vets will be happy to discuss the options with you.

Pet Insurance
We highly recommend pet insurance for all your animals. We do not sell insurance at the practice but are more than happy to advise you on what to look for when taking out an insurance policy - just ask to speak to someone at reception.

Diet
We are what we eat and our animals are no exception. Good nutrition is vital for a good start in life and to maintain health throughout. We stock the full range of Hill's Science Plan diets and also stock a range of special prescription diets designed to treat specific diseases. We are happy to advise on the best nutrition for all your pets including rabbits and guinea-pigs.

Dental care
Pets have teeth too! We offer dental treatment for all pets from ultrasonic scaling and polishing to endodontic treatment. Preventative care is just as important and we also offer a range of support products.

Rabbits
Rabbits have easily become the third most popular domestic pet in the UK in recent years. At Hillside, we have a particular interest in rabbits and are able to offer the same high standards of clinical care, diagnosis and surgery that we can offer to cats and dogs. We also advise on neutering, diet and behavioural problems.

Pet identification
Microchip implants are the only permanent way of identifying a pet and we are able to offer this service at the practice - simply ask at reception for details.
